Kim Sisson, Murals and Pet Portraits

With a background in theatre set design and a love for the aesthetic, artist Kim Sisson is perfectly placed to develop her passion - painting pet portraits and murals. A dog lover herself, Kim insists on meeting each pet in person and observing them. As a result her portraits are not only lovingly created but she attempts at all times to capture the true character of each animal, ensuring that customers receive a portrait of their pet and not a generic picture of a breed. This is particularly true of Kim’s speciality, her disarmingly realistic ‘companion boards’ which are based on a 17th Century tradition of creating life-size cut-outs of people and their pets. And when Kim isn’t painting animals she can be found up a ladder creating murals, Italianate vistas, trompe l'oeil and other special paint effects and decorative paint finishes. Recent commissions have included murals for restaurants and stately homes. However, she enjoys smaller commissions too, so if you have a room which could do with a little help, a romantic mural could be just the solution.
