Sandy Lodge in Thorpeness
Sandy Lodge sleeps 12 in 2 doubles, 2 twin bedded, 1 bunk room, with a single bed and another single bedded room with 1 ensuite bathroom and 2 family bathrooms. The house is situated right on the beach at Thorpeness. If you have ever dreamt of lying in bed to watch the sun rise over the sea then this is the house for you! There are four interconnecting reception rooms providing large areas with lots of light and fantastic views over the sea. Bedrooms are on both the ground floor and the first floor. This is a house to be enjoyed at any time of the year, either dining outside on the decking to watch the sun come down or curled up in front of the log burning stove while the waves tumble over the shingle and the wind blows. For warm days there is a sunken seating area with a brazier and fixed wooden benches in the garden, which is enclosed, so ideal for younger children, and a gate leading onto the beach. In the centre of Thorpeness is the Meare, a wildlife rich lake, with rowing boats, dinghies, and punts for hire. Thorpeness also has a country club with tennis courts, golf course, attractive pub and an excellent village shop. A riding stable in the next village will arrange hacks along the beach and across the beautiful Suffolk heathland countryside which surrounds Thorpeness and Aldeburgh. Just a short walk along a seaside footpath will take you to Aldeburgh, home of the Aldeburgh Festival and the Freud Summer Theatre, where there are several excellent restaurants, pubs and lovely shops. RSPB Minsmere, Dunwich and Southwold are all within a short drive.
