Had I eaten this

Had I eaten this restaurant's food at home in a takeaway, I would have enjoyed it. Well cooked and flavoursome. Unfortunately, my husband and I were hoping for a pleasant meal 'out'. We booked a table, but when we arrived, and were received with a very tepid welcome, none had been reserved. We were shown a table in the window, but the space was so cramped, we declined. The table next to it suffered from being in the space used by people standing around ordering and collecting their takeaways. My husband found his right elbow inches away from a fire extinguisher and a large stand of plastic flowers. Every table is within two feet of the next and everywhere is horribly cramped. The decor is tatty, cheap and garish, and the lighting fiercly bright. We asked for a table in the adjoining room to get away from the noisy throng coming in and out of the front door, and the telephone orders being taken at the bar. I subsequently spent my evening staring at a wall decorated with a plug socket surrounded by smashed plaster and a plastic sign marked TOILETS. Enough said.........

This is an absolute jewel.

This is an absolute jewel. The curries are hot, but not too hot, and the spices are subtle. The madras is perfect, and the tikka masala shows why this dish is so popular, despite the dreadful attempts most curry houses serve. I really can't recommend this place highly enough. It's streets ahead of any other curry house around here.
