I visited in March 2007. I can say in all honesty that this is the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in. The service was appalling. I was in a party of 10, about an hour and a half after ordering they brought out two starters, 10 minutes later they took them away again as they were for another table (presumably they would have been served cold or re-heated food). We waited another 10 minutes before ours finally arrived. About two hours (10pm!) after ordering our mains arrived, except they'd forgotten to cook two peoples meals, instead of apologising they told my vegetarian friend that she must have ordered the steak which they had brought instead. I ordered the lamb, it was pure fat, I sent it back and the chef came out of the kitchen and shouted at me claiming that it's meant to be like that. All in all extremely poor with very unprofessional behaviour by all staff members.

Top class food and a fine

Top class food and a fine wine list along with a most welcoming atmosphere all made for a most enjoyable evening at the Galley in Woodbridge.

had the most amazing fish

had the most amazing fish and chips ever. the batter was sublime and the chips really properly potatoey. The service was fab and friendly and the surroundings lively and fun. Can't wait to go again.

I think that most of the reviewers here have been to the Galley on very quiet nights where the staff were able to cope. I’ve been to the Galley twice, once as a work event mid week with a large number of people and once with friends at the weekend.

The service at the weekend was simply the worst I have ever had the misfortune to experience in any restaurant, I eat out a great deal and have worked in the restaurant business in the past, basic fundamentals of service are ignored by what I can only assume are grossly inexperienced staff.

The food too was variable, ironically fantastic on the busy night with terrible service and distinctively average on the quieter night. Thankfully Woodbridge has much better to offer in direct competition to the Galley. Check out THE CAPTAINS TABLE or THE RIVERSIDE as excellent alternatives. The pub next door to the Galley also does great food at reasonable prices with much better service!

The service and the food

The service and the food were out of this world, what a warm friendly place which makes a difference in Woodbridge because they are few and far between. Its a little expensive but well worth it.
