Well after just returning from THE famous Parrot & Punchbowl Inn with an assurance of 'good quality food' I must say how disappointed my family & I all were!

We had reserved a table for 1.30pm & after traveling over 2 hours to get there to celebrate my Father-in laws birthday we had to wait nearly an hour for our starters! we ordered field mushrooms to start & only 1 tiny mushroom came up & for this we were charged an incredible price of £4.95! then we were told that the lovely fresh crab salad that we were all looking forward to had run out so we then had to look at the menu all over again & decide on something completely different! My Mother-in law ordered the roast lamb without roast potatoes & asked for new potatoes instead & guess what arrived on the plate ROAST POTATOES accompanied by 2 small slices of lamb!The kitchen was clearly running out of food due to the extra demand brought on by the hot sunny weather but I think someone should have taken the decision to take the last orders an hour before closing time & not carry on as if nothing had happened! As we were sitting near the till all we could hear was "sorry for the delay we have had a bit of a rush on today!" Our special celebration was ruined by the awful experience we received & we would definitely not recommend this famous pub to any of our friends! Disgruntled customer from Essex.

This was a (very) late,large, booking (25 people) for a Sunday lunch but the hosts and staff coped admirably and the service and food were excellent.
