The Kings Head, Orford
We found the staff extremely friendly and efficient.
Our food was good - we had a half-pint of prawns between us as a starter - served with very tasty granary bread. Crispy battered fish and excellent chips served with a cute pot of tartare sauce. Delicious.
I gather from the previous comments that the Inn has not been so good but new owners seem to be really motivated and clued up about customer service. They deserve to succeed.

Disappointing
We'd looked forward to having lunch at the King's Head but we very disappointed with the standard of the whole place. The tables were horribly sticky and the food not the sort of standard we'd expected. Fish cakes were served with the same sauce as came on our granddaughter's pasta (lazy!) and there wasn't a vegetable in sight even as a side dish. We won't be going back.

New owners at The King's Head
Much has changed at the pub. New owners have come in, introduced a new menu, full of classic pub food, well executed and tasty. We were made very welcome and stayed longer than planned. Glad to see the great British pub is alive and well.
WHAT A SHAME
What's the matter with these pubs.
This is the 2nd one we tried in Orford and what a mistake.
First glance in the door it looks the place to be but risk eating and sitting at your own risk.
Tables were sticky, chairs etc the same and well stained with spilt beer or whatever, all decor although initially appealing as olde wolde was a mess with a torrent of flies buzzing in on a now unappetising meal.
SAME AT THE JOLLY SAILOR............YUK!
So very disappointing
Was disappointed with the ambiance and the food. The bar was cold and unwelcoming and tables needed a good wipe. Omelette left a lot to be desired and and was luke warm as was cheese on toast which came with two very small pieces of bacon. So easy to do much better. Certainly no stars awarded on this visit
My fourth visit - the beer
My fourth visit - the beer is good but the menu becoming a bit boring now. Unconvinced about daily Chef's Special only being served at lunch - why not in the evening as well? Food OK, but by now the running-in period under new ownership should be complete, so maybe a bit more inspiration and flair wouldn't come amiss in the menu and the execution.
A recent supper under the
A recent supper under the new ownership was good. Fish and chips followed by rice pudding and apple crumble were just what was needed after a Friday evening drive down the A14. The chefs specials looked mouth-watering on the blackboard, but are currently only available at lunch. Doubtless the Watsons know their market, and allowance must be made for the fact that they had just started serving food the week we visited. A good initial experience and a follow up lunch visit is planned shortly, so watch this space!
