The Wentworth Hotel
The Wentworth Hotel stands only a few yards from the beach at Aldeburgh, but has the style and comfort of a country house hotel. Owned and managed by the Pritt family since 1920, there are 35 comfortable and contemporary bedrooms. Spacious lounges with seaviews for the summer and open fires for the winter invite you to relax in comfort. On fine days, the two sea-facing terrace gardens offer sunny and sheltered seating for morning coffees, light lunches and cream teas. The candlelit restaurant with its daily changing menu has been awarded Two AA Rosettes.

This new relaxed eaterie just off the A12 in Yoxford offers simple tasty dishes, where the finest and freshest local ingredients are combined to produce flavour sensations. Drop in for coffee and homemade cakes and watch the world go by from their 'Drapers' windows, or chat with the locals over a baked local seabass for a quick lunch. Come and browse their collection of art, history and cookery books whilst enjoying a glass of St Peter’s beer or some vibrant Spanish wines.

The Beech Tree Café is a much-loved part of Early Dawn Nurseries and Garden Centre. With its large windows overlooking the nursery, it is a bright and airy place in which to enjoy a fresh home-cooked meal or,simply, a cup of tea. Using locally-sourced produce, the café serves hot and cold food seven days a week all year round, with almost everything cooked onsite, even the cakes!
The Carlton Manor Hotel
A 19th Century manor house set in the depths of beautiful East Suffolk, Carlton Manor Hotel has 14 comfortable bedrooms, a recently refurbished bar and restaurant, and function rooms ideal for weddings. The hotel’s kitchen is run by Herve Stouvenel, a head chef with experience in 5-star hotels around the world, and offers fine à la carte dining as well as freshly-cooked lunches and snacks at the bar. The food is sourced locally, with the menu changing seasonally to reflect the best produce available.
Earsham Street Café
‘This buzzy little café … has ambience a-plenty and a queue out the door,’ according to the AA Restaurant Guide 2006, which has also recently awarded Earsham Street Café Two AA Rosettes for the quality of its modern brasserie style cooking. Well worth escaping the hordes on the coast for, it makes a welcoming pitstop at any time of day, especially at lunchtimes when it moves up a gear, definitely ‘more scallops than scones’.
Scores Restaurant
Scores restaurant, located on Lowestoft’s Historic Scores Trail and Triangle Market Place, offers a distinctive European flavour which is bound to delight the palette. Head Chef Michael Smith was formerly employed at The Swan and Sutherland House in Southwold, and together with hosts Neil and Katy Prentice, they aim at all times to serve the highest possible standard of cuisine and service in this candle-lit restaurant.
The Swan House
For those with a taste for the unusual, Swan House food is genuinely English with strong international ideas and flavours. With influences ranging from the Chelsea Arts Club, London, to the Kampung Café, Bali, this popular eatery is all the more remarkable because it is set in the heart of rural Suffolk. Kathy’s Café is a bustling part of Aldeburgh’s coffee and lunch scene, with cosy outdoor terraces providing shelter in which to sit on sunny days. Inside, the crisp bright decor is always welcoming and forms an ideal backdrop for local artwork. Art displays change on a regular basis and are definitely worth a visit in their own right. Built as an extension to the existing Smith’s Bakery, Kathy’s prides itself in its homemade breads, cakes and pasteries.
