The Wheldon Family have been growing fruit in Suffolk for over 70 years and now have a new farm store in the Gainsborough countryside, close to the market town of Sudbury.
The farm store and PYO were originally started in the 1970s', with apple and pear orchards you can still explore. The PYO year begins in May with asparagus and moves on to strawberries, raspberries, peas and beans. A wide range of vegetables are grown including lettuces and sweet corn. Early autumn brings plums, apples, pumpkins and blackberries. Throughout the winter and into the spring the family also harvest their own cabbages, cauliflowers, broccoli, leeks and other vegetables that are all available in the farm shop.
Wheldons Farm Shop is open 7 days a week, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, selling a range of British cheese and local produce as well as seasonal vegetables and traditional jams, conserves, chutney, pies and puddings made from the fruit from the Wheldon farm.
