Priory Holme, Kersey (Sleeps 6)

Priory Holme is a cottage that holidaymakers return to again and again. You step back in time when you visit Kersey and the feeling continues as you pass through the gate and up the steps to this delightful thatched cottage.  Low beams, an Inglenook fireplace with large log burning stove, antiques in the sitting and dining room and old dresser in the kitchen. Mod cons have certainly been added, you will be warm and very comfortable at Priory Holme but none of the romance of a bygone age has been lost.  There is lovely double bedded room upstairs (with en suite w.c. and basin) and twin room which share the ground floor family bathroom.  Downstairs is a second sitting room / study with comfortable sofa bed which enjoys its own en suite shower room.

Kersey is just a couple of miles from Hadleigh, it is one of the most picturesque of all Suffolk villages. Spared development, the street, for there is little more than one long street in the village, is lined with timber-framed houses and cottages.  What makes Kersey outstanding is that it lies right across a valley.  From the church at one end the street plunges down to a stream, where cars slow to a walking pace to cross the ford, pedestrians crossing the stream via a bridge, before climbing steeply up the far side of the valley towards the ruins of an old priory and Priory Holme. Standing in the lovely garden at Priory Holme, the visitor has spectacular views both of the countryside surrounding Kersey and along most of the village street to the church at the far end.  Delightful and unusual features add to the charm, including a stallion's tail hanging from the eve of a cottage (once the vet's house), the unusual Elizabethan brick porch of River House and the wonderful wooden roof of the south porch of the church.

Sleeps 6 in 1 double, 1 twin and 1 sofa bed by arrangement.

"Very nice cottage. None of us wanted to leave!" Rachel W, Suffolk.

"It was described as being as pretty as a postcard, it was even better. A wonderful stay, we loved it."

"Driving round the corner and seeing the church and village for the first time - all the way up to this cottage - was breathtaking. A fantastic cottage in a stunning location - we really enjoyed our stay."
