The flint cottage of Lowestoft Maritimes Museum has a surprise inside.
The tiny entrance opens into a tardis-like series of ingeniously laid out rooms displaying fleets of model boats, atmospheric recreations of scenes from the past, and hands on activities for all.
'Check out our trails for children and say hello to the friendly volunteers. Many of them have spent a lifetime working on or around the sea. They all have stories to tell'.
The museum recommends 1.5 to 3 hours for your visit.
The museum shop has souvenirs, gifts and books. Martello's Coffee House next door serves hot and cold food and is open daily.
The museum is set in the Sparrow's Nest Gardens, a delightful park with landscaped slopes below the iconic lighthouse and naval memorial
