Lady Florence is an ex-Admiralty motor fishing vessel (MFV), one of over 1000 built during World War II as supply boats. She is 50 ft long, 16ft 6′ in beam, draws 6ft of water and weighs 35 tons net, 54 gross. She is a registered British Ship, Official Number 361575.
She has the character and history of a fine wooden ship and with only 12 passengers on board there is plenty of space on deck as well as in the wheelhouse and the comfortable saloon, which has a cosy coal fire in the winter months.
The Lady Florence cruises an area rich in both wildlife and history. Starting from Orford Quay, with fine views of the 12th Century Norman Castle and 14th Century Church, the Lady Florence passes several historical landmarks and well-known wildlife spots.
The Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant is designed to provide a different and exciting fine-dining experience. The vessel cruises the calm waters of the rivers Alde and Ore during which freshly prepared fine foods are served.
They can accommodate special dietary requirements with prior notice. Your meal is freshly prepared on board while you cruise using local produce from Orford’s famous butcher and two smokehouses.

With a glass of fresh orange juice, leave the quay and cruise downstream past Havergate Island. At the southern end, fresh grapefruit is served followed by a cooked English breakfast plus American hash-brown potatoes. On deck again, you will sail upstream to Aldeburgh, and on the return to Orford serve on deck (weather permitting) hot American muffins and apple pie and cream. A fully stocked bar is available and there is an informative commentary throughout.
The brunch cruise operates from 9.30am to 12 noon daily all year round, regardless of weather and tide.
Lady Florence cruises the Rivers Alde and Ore for 3½ hours during which lunch or dinner is served. A fully stocked bar is available and there is an informative commentary throughout.
The Lunch cruise is from 12pm - 3.30pm. Dinner cruises are on summer evenings from April to August usually from 4pm to 7.30pm but times can change dependent upon sunset.
Lady Florence cruises the Rivers Alde and Ore for 2½ hours up to sunset, during which an a la carte supper and cocktails are served. Starting from Orford Quay with a cocktail, passengers can choose from a limited-choice a la carte menu with items from the a la carte lunch and dinner menus.
The Sunset Cocktail Supper cruise operates from 4pm to 6.30pm daily during March, September and October, regardless of weather and tides.
