The master bedroom

Castle House

In the very centre of Orford, close to the village shop, Pump Street Bakery, Butley Orford Oysterage and The Crown & Castle Hotel, Castle House is completely private with imposing curved gates and an attractive old brick wall surrounding the grounds. Appropriately named there are wonderful views of Orford Castle from all but one of the bedrooms, the charming sunny Edwardian balcony, drawing room and dining room. In the early 19th century the house and land was owned by the Marquis of Hertford, extended in the Edwardian period it now includes 5 lovely double bedrooms (each with zip and link / super king {each with a topper for additional comfort} and a single bedroom. Three of the bedrooms have brand new en suite bathrooms, the remaining 2 bedrooms sharing the family bathroom and separate w.c. on the 1st floor. Reception rooms were built to entertain and all are extremely spacious with open fires, and bay windows and doors opening onto the terrace from where there are yet more stunning views of the garden and the Castle beyond. The kitchen (like the rest of the house) has been completely refurbished in 2015 and includes both a 4 oven AGA and a brand new range cooker. A large and very private landscaped garden (well over an acre) created over many years contains some fine planting and is enclosed by an old red brick wall and handmade Brampton Willow Fence (stunning). Castle House must have some of the finest views of any of Orford's many lovely village houses. From the house you can see the estuary and the sea as well as Orford Castle. There is a terrace with table and chairs and parasol, a large lawned area, ideal for children's cricket or a game of badminton or croquet and private drive with parking for 4 or more cars. Beyond the formal garden is a wooded area, perfect for children to explore and beyond this the wall separating Castle House from Orford Castle. Entirely fenced, the garden is great for children who want to play outside.
