The Beccles and District Museum is in an eighteenth century schoolhouse with a lovely outlook of the boatyards from the garden.
The museum houses a delightful collection of agricultural items, prints and photographs spanning the Roman and Saxon period through to the early twentieth century. The collection focuses on the Victorian era and there's a great town model of Beccles as it wold have been in the nineteenth century.
There's plenty for the children and a bookshop with a range of wonderful locally produced books that tell the history of Beccles and the surrounding area. This year's temporary exhibition is on the First World War to mark the centenary.
Open from the beginning of April until the end of October daily (except Mondays) and Bank holidays. Entrance is free.
