Carlton Marshes - 26/4/09

Went out for the afternoon in a vain attempt to waddle off some my lunch...

A nice sunny walk but still a bit of Arctic in the wind. Singing Whitethroat, Sedge, Reed, Cetti's, Willow and Grashopper Warbler - do you think it's spring yet?

Just for a change I took some photos of the numerous butterflies.

Cuckoo

Hello John - yes indeed, I heard a Cuckoo at Lackford Lakes last Thursday and another at Carlton Marshes on Sunday. Haven't actually seen one yet though. I expect you will be hearing them soon, especially with a bit of south in the wind. It's always a bit of a thrill to hear your first Nightingale of spring too.

Cuckoo

Just wondering whether you've heard a cuckoo this spring - all quiet down our way near Woodbridge. Thank heaven for the nightingales
