BTO Atlas survey TM37 (W)

I’ve volunteered for a third Tetrad as I felt I should be able to manage to spare 3 mornings in a two month period. I picked an area away from “home” in a 10km square that is currently under committed. The site is south west of Bramfield, mainly farmland with small coppice woods and hedges.

Thursday 13th December

It turned out to be easy to survey with a good network of well maintained paths not shown on the OS map. There were large flocks of Rook (200+) and Woodpigeon (400+), over 50 Blackbird and 33 Common Gull. Highlights were a pair of Bullfinch, a Little Owl and a flock of 100+ Fieldfare and Redwing. The biggest surprise of the 2 hour survey - I only saw one Carrion Crow.
