If that isn’t welcoming enough, Suffolk is also blessed with amazing local food and drink. A trip to Suffolk, even if it’s just for a day, will be a treat for any self confessed foodie.

With so many wonderful eateries you may be wondering where to start, so we’ve created a guide to the best local producers and retailers that Suffolk has to offer. You’ll be able to plan your foodie holiday to Suffolk knowing the best places to sample the finest seafood to sourdough and cakes to cheeses.

Suffolk’s Finest: Seafood

There is nowhere to enjoy fresh seafood quite like Suffolk. There are many wonderful seafood spots making daily catches just off the coast. To get a taste of some of Suffolk’s freshest seafood we recommend...

Pinney’s of Orford: Nestled in the heart of Orford is Pinney’s, a seafood gem producing food of exceptionally high quality. With smoked, fresh and frozen produce on the menu you’ll be spoilt for choice. Smoked products, such as delicious smoked salmon pate and roll mop herrings, are prepared in Pinney’s smokehouses down by Butley Creek. Fresh seasonal fish are caught daily from the local fishing boats. The frozen counter invites you to stock up on home produced cooking such as crab cakes, potted crabs or angels on horseback.

The Fish Huts on Aldeburgh beach: Dotted along the beach are a wonderful selection of Huts where you can buy seafood, freshly caught from the fisherman’s morning catch. You can’t get more fresh than that!

Whilst Suffolk is famous for its seafood, it also boasts a great number of fantastic ethically sourced meat producers.

Artisan Smokehouse: The Artisan Smokehouse is a small multi award winning smokehouse set on the beautiful Suffolk coast producing a scrumptious range of smoked foods and beautiful hampers using quality, ethically sourced ingredients. All the smoked meats (and fish) are traditionally dry cured using no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives giving each product a delicate flavour.

Longhorn meat is praised for its quality as it doesn’t have excess external fat cover, which ensures tenderness, succulence and fantastic flavour.
