Bookshops on the Suffolk Coast

There is a fabulous array of bookshops in Suffolk - perfect for bibliophiles of all ages. Whether you are interested in history, romance, or a gripping thriller, there is bound to be the perfect book for you. If you’re visiting Suffolk or a book-loving resident, hopefully our list of bookshops will help you discover a few gems.

Located on the north end of the high street sits Aldeburgh Book Shop, winner of Independent Bookshop of the Year and organiser of the annual Aldeburgh Literary Festival which takes place at the beginning of March. With books by local authors and the surrounding area as well as a great children’s section, you can sit down and soak up the atmosphere of being in a place where people love to read.

Reed Books 2 is within shouting distance from Aldeburgh Bookshop sitting further down the high street on the opposite side of the road. A secondhand bookshop, walking inside Reed Books 2 is the equivalent of a literary Aladdin’s Cave with books of all genres just begging to be read.

With books for all ages, there is a large selection of titles in Browsers. Peruse classic and usual authors - you’re sure to stumble across a fantastic read whatever your taste.

Each month there is the opportunity to attend Browsers Book Group where coffee and flapjacks help to fuel the discussion of a recent novel. Visiting author events are also run, and the friendly staff are more than happy to help with recommendations to ensure you walk away with the best book - and come back for more.

In the Thoroughfare you can also find Woodbridge Books - a bookshop run by an author! With an incredible selection of fiction, factual and secondhand books housed within a Grade II listed building you will find Woodbridge Books to be an utter delight.

With close to 8,000 books on two floors, Poor Richard’s Books offers an amazing array of secondhand and antiquarian books. Sitting on the Suffolk coast, you can find Poor Richard’s Books just off the high street in Felixstowe. Discover books about Felixstowe and East Anglia as well as children's books, fictions, crafts and more!

Also in this seaside town sits Treasure Chest Books, a 5 minutes walk from the train station. One of East Anglia's leading secondhand bookshops, Treasure Chest Books has been selling a variety of titles for over 30 years. A veritable Aladdin's cave of wordy wonders, be sure to dedicate some time to explore the different rooms of the shop to uncover all kinds of books.
