New Sponsorship for Aldeburgh Music Club
Under their new Drector of Music, Edmond Fivet, the Aldeburgh Music Club is planning to stage a major musical event in November 2009 to celebrate the work of William Walton. A concert at Snape Maltings Concert Hall will include William Walton's brilliant oratorio Belshazzar's Feast.
This is a major undertaking for the Aldeburgh Music Club which relies entirely on charitable giving and the hard work and support of the its members and friends.
Following a major fundraising campaign in 2008, the club's chair, Juliet Brereton, was delighted to announce that Suffolk Cottage Holidays and Big House Holidays (who let a number of cottages and larger houses in and around Aldeburgh) have offered to underwrite the venue costs for all Aldeburgh Music Club concerts over the next three years.
"This degree of financial security has meant that plans for the William Walton Weekend with performances of Balshazzar's Feast with the Aldeburgh Music Club Choir and the Pheonix Singers on Saturday 29 at Snape Maltings Concert Hall and Walton's String Quartets with the Emperor Quartet at the Jubilee Hall on Sunday 30 November are now firmly in place" said Juliet Brereton.
Other concerts for 2009 include an evening of Sacred Choral Music at St Peter and St Paul Church in Aldeburgh on Saturday 7 March at 7:30 pm and a concert of music by Handel at St Bartholomew's Church, Orford on Saturday 16 May again at 7:30 pm.
